Lockport is finally opening the gates of hell.

HellsGate, the haunted house attraction was canceled last year due to construction, but it will be opening for the Halloween season this year.

The attraction comes from the people responsible for some of the scariest haunted houses in IL, including Statesville Haunted Prison and Fear Haunted House at Navy Pier.

John LaFlamboy said patrons will be able to park in the Metra station parking lot for free and be bussed to the haunted house.

The grand opening is scheduled for Oct. 6.

It will be open Thursdays through Sundays from 7 to 10PM and on Halloween night, which is a Monday.

The 20,000 square foot building is adjacent to Legacy Paintball and Airlift Park.

An average of 1,200 customers are expected every night.
