Planning to shop on Thanksgiving? Think again!

The largest shopping mall in the nation, Mall of America, will be closing its doors on November 24th – the first time since 2012.

The Minnesota based center says they want workers to enjoy time with their families feasting on good food.

“We think Thanksgiving is a day for families and for people we care about,” Jill Renslow, the mall’s senior vice president of marketing, told The Associated Press. “We want to give this day back.”

The mall will re-open at 5am on Black Friday, or the day after Thanksgiving.

For years, a new Thanksgiving tradition between retailers has been to see who will open their doors earlier and entice customers with their deals.

We commend Mall of America for doing the best thing for their employees.

Do you think other companies and stores will follow suit?
