About B96

WBBM-FM, better known to millions of Chicagoans as Chicago’s B96, is a top 40 radio station in Chicago, Illinois. The station is owned by CBS Radio and broadcasts at 96.3 MHz and b96.com.  The station plays the hottest of the hot on the pop culture and music landscape and is well known around the world for breaking new music and for the annual B96 SummerBash in June and December’s B96 Jingle Bash.

SummerBash- When it started in 1993, it was held at the World Music Theater in Tinley Park, IL which is now known as First Midwest Bank Amphitheater. After several years it moved to the Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL where it stayed until moving to the Maywood Park Racetrack for a year, and then to Toyota Park in Bridgeview in 2007.  B96 has always hosted world renowned superstars as well as hometown talent. Several artists have appeared more than once over the years. Mariah Carey was even called on in 1998 to be the M.C. (master of ceremonies) for the event.  Some of the bands that were at the Summer Bash in 2009 were: The Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Clarkson, Akon, Flo Rida, LMFAO and many more.

The SummerBash concert series proved so successful that the station also began a winter/Holiday Season version of the event:  the B96 Jingle Bash. The lineup for the 2009 Jingle Bash included: Pitbull, Justin Bieber, Sean Kingston, and Jay Sean, among others.
