Haunted House in Chicago

Nothing says Halloween like getting the bejesus scared out of you at a haunted house.

I mean, there's people who wait all year for their favorite haunted house to open its doors and give them the scare of a lifetime... until next year, of course.

Even if you aren't a fan of haunted houses, there's scientific evidence backing up the claim that a little fear is actually good for you.

The physical state of fear gives us a "high" as our "fight or flight respons" kicks in.

According to the Washington Post, "as our hearts speed up and we breathe more rapidly, our muscles get more blood with more oxygen in it, which is what we need to fight the danger or flee from it as fast as we can. A hormone called epinephrine (which you probably know as adrenaline) is released to trigger these superpowers, and it can wind your body up so tightly for action that it makes you shake in your boots."

Okay, fine, so it doesn't say it's healthy for you, but a good haunted house will not only make you feel alive, it'll make you grateful to have made it out alive.

Here are some of our favorite haunted house locations in Chicago.

This list will have you visiting a new haunted house every weekend leading up to the 31st!

So grab the crew, go get your scare on, and don't forget to let us know which one is your favorites!
